Roy Lichtenstein

Born in New York in 1923, Roy Lichtenstein is now one of America's best contemporary artists.  Lichtenstein didn't start his famous comic strip style paintings until the mid 1960's, originally painting mostly western themes.  He joined the army for three years and then became a professor in upstate New York, later moving to Rutgers. He married Isabel Wislon and had several children.  This pop artist is best known for his innovative and commercial designs, like Drowning Girl and Whaam. His work was heavily influenced by his interest in advertising.

We had to make patterns of a created image 3 ft by 5 ft. This is the motif I designed and some of the pattern ideas.

I enjoyed this scanning project because it showed me a new way of using a scanner. Also, I liked how you could make the project really personal. I scanned tiny little "tidbits" that i like to collect and that are personal to me.

Personal Landscape

Personal Landscape
This project was interesting because we could create our own landscapes that had meaning to us. I created a world on stilts based off of a chapter of the book "Invisible Cities" where the entire town was high in the sky. I enjoyed adding the little hidden people into the scene.

We had to restore an old picture given to us. This was not my favorite project because it was really tedious and time consuming.

These little images were fun to make because you were free to make your images as silly as you wanted. The image below of the monkey in the yearbook photo is my favorite.

More Ducky Pictures
This is a picture of my 3D project where we had to make molds out of objects and turn them into a set of something else. I made a mold of a rubber ducky keychain into wax and created a set of childrens toys and candy. My set included lollipops, bubbles, pacifiers, and a jack-in-the-box.

First self portrait

First self portrait
This was my first illustrator portrait, using no tracing techniques or filters. It was really difficult to do but it came out similarly to the handmade collage that we used as a reference.

Tucker

Tucker
Tucker helped us learn tracing tools. It was an easy project to do and helped develop our use of tools.

Logos

Logos
I created the logo on the bottom, and had to reproduce the one on the top.

This was one of the most frustrating projects because it was time consuming and more difficult then I thought when I was first was given the project.

Memoir Project
I did this memoir as my first project on illustrator. It was my first time ever using the program and I was just learning how to use the different tools.
